Corporate Strategy & Development

Our Corporate Strategy & Development unit sets direction and shapes the portfolio. The scope covers market entry and expansion, buy-versus-build decisions, business model design, acquisition theses and partnership strategy. In frontier markets the plan has a short half-life, so the output is a position the board can defend and revise rather than a fixed three-year document.

01 / Overview

What this is.

A three-year strategy in a frontier market is a guess with a cover page. A regulation passes, a competitor’s cost curve drops, a supply route closes, and the document is wrong in ways that were not foreseeable when it was written.

This unit produces something more useful: a position the board can defend now and revise when the facts move. Where the company plays, what it builds versus buys, which markets to enter and in what order, what the business model actually charges for, and which partnerships are worth the dependency they create.

The development side follows from that. An acquisition thesis before a target list rather than after it, so the pipeline is filtered by strategic fit instead of availability. Partnership structures that do not hand a competitor your roadmap. Portfolio decisions about what to stop, which is usually the hardest and most valuable conversation.

We work with Foresight & Futurology on the assumptions and with Deal & Capital Advisory when the strategy calls for a transaction.

Typical mandates: a market-entry decision, a buy-versus-build call, a business model or pricing redesign, an acquisition thesis and screen, or a portfolio review after a funding round or a change of leadership.
