Process Excellence & Automation

Our Process Excellence & Automation unit redesigns how work gets done before automating it. The scope covers process mapping, bottleneck analysis, workflow redesign, rules-based and AI-driven automation, and the measurement that proves it worked. Automating a broken process only makes it fail faster, so sequence matters more than tooling.

01 / Overview

What this is.

Automation applied to a broken process makes it fail faster and at higher volume. Most stalled programmes were sound on technology and wrong on sequence: the tooling arrived before anyone asked whether the steps being automated needed to exist.

This unit starts with the process. We map how work actually moves rather than how the documentation says it does, remove the steps that survive for historical reasons, fix the handoffs where things queue, and only then decide what a machine should take over.

What gets automated varies. Rules-based automation still handles most high-volume administrative work. Language models now reach cases that were too unstructured to touch before, such as document review, classification and first-line triage. The judgement is which category a task belongs in, and what happens when the automation gets it wrong. Cycle time, error rate, cost per transaction and residual manual effort are baselined before the change and tracked after, because a programme that cannot show its effect tends to lose funding at the second budget cycle.

Typical mandates: an automation programme that has stalled, a cost or cycle-time target, a process redesign ahead of a system migration, or a review of automation already live and underperforming.
